ABOUT
Hannah Osmond Smith
I am a practitioner and chartered psychologist specialising in adult neurodivergence, and its interaction with education and the workplace.
I offer diagnostic assessments and coaching, to identify strengths and weaknesses, and to help the individual to reach their potential and maintain their wellbeing.
I have worked in the area of specific learning difficulties for 15 years. Alongside my client work, I work as an Expert Witness, and training consultant to the British Psychological Society (BPS). I also sit on professional groups devising regulations and recommendations for psychologists.
I take a holistic approach to my work, ensuring Reasonable Adjustments are identified across all areas of the person's life, as well as considerations across social, communication, education, and workplace domains.
I also offer training and consultancy for organisations in understanding neurodiversity.

Psychological Assessment
Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dyspraxia (Specific Learning Difficulties)

Hannah offers diagnostic assessments, for anyone over the age of 16, looking to explore the possibility of specific learning difficulties.
These assessments are as much focussed on the individual’s strengths, as the things that they find more difficult. This is with a view to helping the individual learn about themselves, and exploring together the impact of the person’s differences on their daily life. Hannah will work with the client in devising recommendations for work and education.

Differences such as dyslexia are present from early years, but can impact people differently across their lifespan. For example, literacy difficulties that were well supported in structured schooling may become more problematic with the increased demands of Further Education, or present for someone entering a new job role.

Assessment for specific learning difficulties includes consultation around educational and vocational history, full cognitive testing, and attainment testing for the identified areas of difficulty (e.g. literacy, mathematics, and fine motor skills).

A comprehensive report detailing all findings and full recommendations is sent 2-3 weeks following the assessment.

These assessments take place in person at the MPA offices in the centre of Brighton. The cost for these assessments is £799.
Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) assessment
Hannah offers a specific assessment, tailored to the needs of students looking to apply for DSA funding for Higher Education, and recommendations for support from their education provider.
Hannah has worked with several Higher Education establishments in and around Brighton for many years, and has developed a targeted assessment that meets the requirements of the student, universities, and relevant government bodies.
These assessments can be offered on an individual basis, or services established for institutions who may want to refer a number of students.

These assessments take place in person at the MPA offices in the centre of Brighton the cost for these assessments is £600. Services and discounted assessments are offered to institutions making a larger number of referrals.
Full neurodiversity assessment
Assessment for learning disability, and adult services support
Assessments to consider learning disabilities, including full cognitive testing, functional literacy levels, and functional behaviour (such as community use and health and safety).

These assessments are designed to inform suitability for local authority support, and benefits such as Personal Independence Payments (PIP). The cost for these assessments is £799, and they would normally take place in person at our offices in Brighton. Please discuss this with us if this is not feasible and an alternative can be sought.
Hannah offers assessment for complex neurodevelopmental differences such as autism and ADHD, as well as specific learning difficulties.
These assessments are designed to identify diagnoses where relevant, and make comprehensive recommendations for education and the workplace. Please note that we are not able to make recommendations around suitability for medication in these assessments.

These assessments generally include full psychometric testing, as well as extended consultation with the client and a discussion with someone who knows the client well. Assessments focus on the client's presenting difficulties, their developmental history, their strengths and weaknesses, and how their differences impact on their daily life.

This service includes an initial consultation, comprehensive testing session, a conversation with someone who knows the client well, comprehensive diagnostic and recommendation report, and a follow up consultation.

The cost for these assessments is between £1500 and £2000, depending on the testing required. In some cases remote assessments are possible, but normally the assessment day would take place at the MPA offices in Brighton.
